Materials & Sustainability | Fabric Horse | Lock Holsters, Utility Belts, Bags | Philadelphia, PA

Fabric Horse is dedicated to domestic and sustainable design and manufacturing. All of our products are lovingly made by hand in Philadelphia. Our products are made from a combination of new, sustainably made, factory rejected and discarded materials. All items in the Fabric Horse line are vegan. We only deal with domestic vendors and know where all of our materials come from.  We purchase and use USA made materials whenever possible.

Waxed Canvas | A great alternative to leather with a "suede-like" appearance, most of our line is made from waxed canvas (also known as tin cloth). Our yardage is purchased from a local, family-owned business who finishes the fabric on premises. Waxed canvas is water repellant and made to absorb dirt and grease, becoming more resilient over time. When caring for waxed canvas, gently spot clean with just water, never soap (this will remove the wax coating). You can also reapply wax when needed to build up the finish.

* Cordura™ | A woven 1000 denier nylon that is finished with a waterproof coating, Cordura™ is also abrasion-resistant and light-weight. Cordura is used both as a liner and outer fabric as it adds water repellency and durability. When treating stains you may use a gentle brush and mild soap. Wash with cold water and line dry.

* Vinyl | Used to line products that need structure and for its great waterproofing ability, our 18 oz. vinyl can be sponged clean and line dried.

Reclaimed Materials | We try our best to incorporate materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill- this includes reclaimed seat belt webbing, yoga mats and bicycle tubes.

* Currently researching more sustainable and suitable replacements.
